Futures studies research department

  This department was founded in 2002 to assess the status que and the social and cultural trends of science and technology in Iran and in the world with foresight and monitoring and to determine research priorities to meet future needs.

  Research Priorities

  1. To provide guidelines to the administrators to monitor and foresight obtaining new technologies;

  2. Futures studies research on the most effective trends in the field of science and technology;

  3. To investigate and to introduce the performed projects in the field of futures studies in the developed and the developing countries;

  4. To design MA. and PhD. educational courses in the field of futures studies and related areas and to organize the courses with the cooperation of Iranian and foreign researchers.

  1. The past, the present, and the future of public understanding of science & its role in knowledge- based development;

  2. The most appropriate technologies for Iran in 2025: A pilot foresight;

  3. Critical assessment of some of the methodological frameworks, methods, and techniques used in futures studies;

  4. Assessment of the impact of the fourth wave of scientific- technological development on culture and society: A research from futures studies point of view;

  5. Critical assessment of some of the methodological frameworks, methods, and techniques used in futures studies.
