Economy of science research department

  This department was founded in 2005 to formulate theoretical and practical basis of knowledge- based economy in Iran by understanding the local conditions and the continuously evolving world.

  Research priorities

  1. To investigate ways of carrying out humanities and social sciences research for economic ends.

  2. To analyze and to investigate commercialization barriers of research results.

  3. To investigate and to present suggestions to policy-makers to promote private section's participation in research, science and technology production.

  4. To analyze and to assess the budget of science, research, and technology.

  5. To study and to measure economic effects of science and technology

  1. A study on knowledge- based economies characteristics and to examine developed and developing countries' endeavors towards knowledge- based economy;

  2. Detailed annual analysis of Iran's 2006 R&D budget;

  3. Measuring Iran’s ranking in relation to KBE in South west Asia;

  4. Main economic schools of thought on the place of science and technology in development;

  5. Review of economy of science sources and comparative analysis of research funding system in some selected OECD countries.
