Public understanding of science research department

  This department was founded in 2006 to establish grounds for public understanding of science and its relevant policy- making in Iran.

  Research Priorities

  1. To design the national document of public understanding of science and public education including mission, policy guidelines and national standards;

  2. To design and implement national network of public education of science and technology with the cooperation of public and private sector;

  3. To perform research on the methods of promoting science and technology policy concepts among administrators and elites in the country;

  4. To design and implement the program of continuous monitoring of public education and public understanding of science;

  5. To carry out research on designing and implementing educational methods with the cooperation of people who promote science.

  Research projects

  1. National PUST (Public Understanding of Science) survey program;

  2. Cross national study of PhD students knowledge of history, philosophy, and ethics ( Iran via Spain);

  3. Critical study of national policies of science promotion in the countries G8 , D8, India & China.
